What is the anchor of your soul? For every born again Christian, it is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Col. 1:27). This hope we have is the anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast (Heb. 6:18). Our hope of eternal life with Christ is as unchangeable and immovable as the character of God who cannot lie or break His promises. All of His promises are backed up by his awesome power such that every believer’s glorious inheritance is reserved in heaven. It is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven and protected by the power of God through faith (1Pet. 3:4-5). Tragically, for Catholics, the anchor of their soul is their religion and their religious activities. This is why they can never have assurance. Their only sure and steadfast hope is to do what the apostle Paul did. They need to exchange their religion for a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (Phil. 3:4-9).
